How YOU use your Filofax - POLL

I have been thinking a while about the big boom of Filofax in the past 2 years, when I started my Filofax journey, there was very little on the internet, and very little on Youtube, Facebook, Blogs etc. But then in the past 2 years I have noticed a huge explosion, as have many others, but I have been wondering when will this big boom end, after all it isn't too much different from the economy, that goes up and down, so does the excitement for Filofax organisers and other brands.

Here is the question I asked:

I got lots of comments about technology and all never being good enough to replace their Filofaxes as expected, and a few comments saying what the boom could be due to, but it made me more curious! Therefore I decided to create this poll!!!

Everyone can take part, all you need to do is "vote" on each of the options, then at the end there will be a result.

Once you have voted, please leave a comment with any other views or ideas you have, I would be really interested to read it all!!

Thank you in advance!!

(p.s. when I say Filofax it can be any brand that is bound together like a Filofax, write in the comments anything you would like to add)

If you have used your Filofax for over 3 years please click on this link below just to say how many years

Thank you

There is so many more questions I could ask, but I think it is best that I stop there!

If you have any other things you want to add put them in the comments, I just am curious as to how people got in to using a Filofax and how long they have used them and how long they will continue to use them!

Tell me as much as you want or as much as you want to share

Thank you all in advance and I look forward to seeing the results! I will close the poll on 30 September and collate the results!

Breast Reduction - Help/Advice?

Hello everyone

Today I have a very different to the usual post.

For two years or so I have been thinking about a breast reduction, I have decided I am going to talk to the Doctor about it next month when I go to hospital.

It all originally started when I was put on Estrogen, they started to grow at an alarming rate, and even though they have slowed down now I get lots of trouble from them.

Before hormones I was a 30 C and after hormones I am not a 34/36 HH +. So you can see why I would be considering it!

The issues I experience are:

Unwanted attention;
Back Pain;
They make me feel low, and down;
I have awful posture;
I find exercise very hard as they are so heavy no matter how much support I have they are always hurting me;
No where sells bra's in my size in Cornwall, it is near enough impossible to not get industrial scaffolding!

Due to the fact I am on HRT I have to have a DEXA scan every 3 years to check my bone density, but on the first scan I had my spine had a slightly reduced density to the rest of my bones, I have been re tested recently and it hasn’t got any worse nor has it got better. And this scares the hell out of me if I am honest.

It made me wonder, is my spine loosing bone density because of the weight from my boobs, as I try to get as much dairy into me to keep my bones strong and healthy and I make sure I do not miss an injection of testosterone etc, I try to keep on my hormones as much as possible no matter how much they make life awful the majority of the time.
But anyway, I have been thinking about this decision for so long. I know I have to go through the NHS and through a board and all to see if I can get it done as I could never afford to do it privately but I feel like this is the first step, I guess it is admitting I have a problem!

The reason I am writing this blog post is because:

1. I have read lots of stories where they have gone wrong and have had issues after.
2. I am scared of operations.
3. I want to get some other peoples feedback on the issue.

Has anyone who reads my blog had a reduction?

Does anyone have any advice?

Know of any good surgeons, etc…

I don’t really want to have it done in Cornwall if I am honest as the Hospitals down here are not the best!

Any good clinics, any help would be great, I am just trying to get as much research before I go to Hospital and talk to them, I know they may tell me to talk to my doctor but as it is kind of related to my condition they may be able to organise it up there! But this will obviously mean MORE trips to London!

Look forward to hearing your views.

Difference in Paper Size - Mulberry V Filofax

As you all know I really want a Mulberry Agenda to use instead of a Filofax one.

If you want to help me to get one please read this post, Help Imysworld to Get a Mulberry Agenda, and click on the buy now paypal button in the right hand sidebar!

I am amazed that I already have raised £120 towards my agenda, and it has got me really excited due to the fact that I might be able to get it at the Philofaxy Meet Up on 16 March 2013! If I raise the money before then I am going to be giving away two Leather Filofax Organisers, One Brand New and one is New Condition, just unused bought by me. I will not tell you what they are yet! But if you want to be in the chance of wining them help me reach my target (insert winky face here)!

Also I have a competition to win two Midori Travellers Notebooks No 002 and 003 CLICK HERE to enter!

................................................................

So now to the blog post, I have been thinking about this Mulberry for ages and last time I was in London I went to look at it behind the Glass cabinet in Harrods (I was too shy to ask to look at it). This was before I knew about the ring and paper size, but I realised that Mulberry paper is actually more of a convenient size than a Pocket or Personal.

I have created a sheet of pocket frmo the measurements on Philofaxy and a sheet of Mulberry also from the measurements on Philofaxy

Untitled

The sheets side by side, the purple is my Personal paper.

Untitled

The Personal with Mulberry size below.

But looking at it in comparison to the Personal it just shows the Mulberry is a perfect size, as instead of it being really long and thin, it is A6 which is proportioned rather than being an odd size!

This also means it is going to be so easy to make pages for it as you can just  fold an A4 piece of paper twice then slice it up and hole punch it!

It will be so much more simple!

I am so excited to use a new size and shape of paper that is just better proportioned as I find the Filofax paper too long and narrow!

HUGE EXCITED IMY!!!!

Thank you for all your donations so far!!!!!

Help Imysworld Fund a Mulberry Agenda

Hello

Now this will seem like a very strange post, and I thought why not, what harm can it do.

I have dreamt for a long time about owning a Mulberry Agenda, and I was going to try to treat myself to one but lots and lots of bills came up, as usual!

As you all know I have made Youtube videos and done my blog for a long time, a very long time, and I thought about contacting Mulberry saying can I have one for review etc, but I thought that is never going to work!

I was having a little discussion on Twitter and someone said as a joke I should make a donate to the fund button, and I started to think maybe I should.

I did have an adsense account but Google decided to close it, I had earn't £50 when they closed it and had nearly reached the £60 fresh hold and there was no way to reactivate it they said it was their final decision, therefore I was unable to get it back or claim any money or anything, so I have never earnt anything at all from doing my blog posts or youtube, and I know there are lots of people out there who do end up earning a living from it.  But I have a full time job and when I am not working I am either spending time with my boyfriend or running the group on my condition or replying to emails from people who have my condition who are in a lot more unfortunate place than me and are struggling so they ask for my help.

It can all get a bit much sometimes so I distance myself from the world.

Hence why I left Facebook for 5 months and why I don't say much on twitter any more and why I have been off my blog recently.

The past 2 months have been so busy in my office I have not had time to do anything really other than work and sleep, I have been exhausted.

Therefore I thought about it for a while and even though it is selfish and all to have a donation button to get a binder, but I just want a little treat. I know I have had many Filofaxes over the years free but I have also given away quite a few Filofaxes to people in competitions etc!

You can ignore this post and the button to give money to the fund completely, you can leave nasty comments to me about doing this, or your can donate, its up to you, I am not asking for £1,000,000, the binder is only £350 and once I reach that goal I will remove the button instantly.

What you will get back from this is.......

I will do regular blog posts - 3 per week, I will try to do one video per week, I will do weekly or monthly updates, and when I go to get the binder if I manage to get it in store rather than online I will let someone film it for me so you can all see my excitement of going to buy it. Also you will see lots of blog posts on the binder.

Once I have got the binder, I will get my hands on some Filofaxes and give them away to you all! I will also make sure they have perfect rings etc.....

But I will try my hardest to have more competitions etc...

So please do not hate me!!!!!!

Here is a picture of the binder I would like, if they stop making this one there also is another one I like.

But obviously I really love pink as you all know!

So if you want to help me, click below and enter the amount you want to give, it can be as little or as much as you like!

Click on the "Buy Now" button in the sidebar on the right hand side at the top to donate money to the fund!

Thank you for taking the time to read this!!!!!!!!

If you have any questions let me know.

Blogging will be on Monday's, Wednesdays and Fridays. I will try to blog on extra day's too!!!!

One Diary for 2013 - The Ideas?

As you all know I am going to use just one Diary for 2012, and I have decided this will be a Filofax.

The reasons I am not going to change is because:

    - I need to keep track of overtime & holiday at work properly (Have a huge issue with this atm)

    - I need to keep track of my money

    - I need to just know what I have done when..

    - I need to be able to look back when I last went to the Doctors etc...

And no I cannot use two diaries as they would never be in sync at all, I can only use ONE at a time!

So it has lead me to thinking.... Personal or Pocket the reasons for this are as follows:

Personal

Its large

Holds a lot

Larger rings

Pocket

Easier to carry everywhere

Smaller

Enough space to write

Cute

The cons of each organiser are....

Personal

Too bulky sometimes

If I need to use on the move can be a bit too large

Heavy

Pocket

Could be too small

Not as much room on the rings, would need to use twice as much paper for notes, or just write smaller

So this is my predicament...

I need the Filofax to do the following:

  • Have a whole YEAR week to view
  • Maybe a Month to View (years worth too)
  • To do lists
  • Notes
  • Fiance sheets
  • Track other things
  • Lists - Birthdays
  • Addresses
  • Random things which I decide

But if I went for pocket I do not need to use dividers, I can use the tabs, but I am tempted to buy some from Japan Corner for which ever I decide to stay in! Also thinking of getting the Month to view from Japan Corner too (I am not linking as I don't want it to sell out before I decide hehe) {sneakkyyyy}

To go Pocket or Personal for 2013?

I have ordered a Piazza from Rymans very cheaply just to see what the size is like, if I don't like it I will sell it on ebay, but I do not think I will get it as I searched on their website and nothing came up. I could end up falling in love with it? You never know.

So reading what you have what do you think I should go for??

Steve told me you can hold 220 pages in a Pocket... is that enough? How does that even look?? (NO IDEA)

Do I go for Pocket Malden as the leather has the most give? or a Finchley? or a Adelphi (I love the Adelphi design and emailed someone on AdSpot on Philofaxy, awaiting a reply still, as I want it)

Once I decide on the Diary and inserts I have to stick with it for a whole year, but I have two weeks to decide what to stick with...

Also a side note about the Pocket - I have tons of Hello Kitty Inserts for Pocket Filofaxes...

Also I have the hole punch that is adjustable so I can make pocket or personal inserts (so thats the least of my worries)

I am thinking of cutting up some of my spare Midori notebooks and using them as Filofax paper once I decide (AS I LOVE THE PAPER)

END OF TRAIN OF THOUGHT.......

Please reply below!!! URGENT MATTERS AFOOT! (afoot may not be the right thing to say, not idea just wanted to put that at the end I felt it thats all... sorry if I have made a complete idiot of myself!!!)

My search for a new Diary/Planner - Video's

Here are two videos which I have made recently.

They show me talking about me trying to find the perfect planner, you will see how I have gone from the first one saying what I want to try to actually owning most of what I need to try and set up a new format.

The second one also includes a bit of a haul of stationery from different shops too.

Sorry about the random silence but I knew I had more to say and as soon as I shut off the camera it would come to me, hence why I did it all in one take!

Comments/Requests/Questions leave them below!

Possible Solution!

I met up with my friend Andrew at lunch (I feel sorry for him, we never actually had lunch) and I had to post some things first, then I thought I should have a quick look in WHSmiths and Waterstones at the diaries to get some ideas, there wasn't much in WHSmiths, other than a Colins Elite diary which I have used before but it was too restrictive as all you could have was the diary and that was pretty much it.

We went in to Waterstones and this is where things got picture heavy and interesting.

I bought the Filofax Flex back when it first came out because of the hype, but the diary that came with it started in July, and it was beginning to mid June, therefore it was unusable for a month, in this time I completely lost any care for it as I never used it, I made a list or two but that was all!

I decided I should have a look at the sizes as I was considering using a Slim as my new diary, I thought it was bigger, oh how I was wrong, I have taken a photo with all three sized on top of each other, the Slim and Pocket are virtually the same size. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!

Untitled

Untitled

It was hard to balance therefore Andrew had to hold them!

Untitled

You can see little Lexie looking all pretty!

As you can see the difference is minimal!!!

I asked Andrew to borrow his Filofax (which upon seeing it I was horrified you shall see why in a minute)

He has a Pocket Metropol by the way!

Untitled

Slim comparison with Pocket Filofax (I would of thought Slim to be Personalish sized)

Untitled

To my horror he has written on the front of his Filofax (yes I "gently" persuaded him to buy a Filofax on day over Facebook)

It would have to be A5 for me!

I looked at the diary, as I already have a 2012 diary I could start using now!

Untitled

Untitled

The format has not changed by then it came to my mind... I could use ANY DIARY, so I had a look upstairs at Moleskines!

Untitled

Untitled

I quite like this week to view diary!!!!

I ran downstairs thinking, I should compare the size to see if it would fit, and to my amazement the standard size fits!! The larger would not!

Untitled

Untitled

Untitled

The Cahier note books are quite cute as well, and if it was a little wide I could trim down the cardboard!

Untitled

They come in a variety of colours and styles too so it means they would be a good option.

When I got back to my office I remembered that Paperlovestory did a blog post about some notebooks that she used for her Affair, which was like a Flex but had rings, Artbox Haul, Review of Artbox Notebooks. As they are cheap they could be an alternative option for the Flex!

Next thing I thought was I have my Papelote elastic band for an A5 notebook, which would work perfectly with a Flex, and finally, if I needed an extra place to put notebooks (as I am only going to use thin ones) I could always use an elastic band Midori Travelers style.

I am thinking of buying a Leather Flex cover as it will be more Flexible and also I really love the Blackcurrent Leather cover.

So that is my possible resolution to my whole issue as I could use a huge range of different notebooks/diarys all in one cover and it would be leather and still the Filofax brand.

What do you think?

Remembering the whole reason I am moving away from Filofax is due to the rings, and I can use sticky notes so I can move things around and paperclips and bulldog clips, as Tracy (Icclewu) knows I have lots of Bulldog clips!

Sticker Folder Idea - HELP

I was sitting at home a week or two ago and I had the GENIUS idea of a sticker folder, i.e. use an A5 Folder and some plastic wallets and then put my stickers in them.

On a trip to Staples last week there was an A5 Folder on offer so I thought it is mean to be.

Untitled

I got home looked at my sticker draw with an imagination of how beautiful it would look after!

Untitled

But it didn't work, it came out like this, the wallets were too heavy with more than two sheets in but then I would need hundreds of plastic wallets!

Untitled

I was so sad that it didn't work.

So does anyone have a better idea for me to keep my stickers, as I want to free up the draw and have them in a tidy convenient thing, like an A5 Folder!

Filofax Dilemma 101

As some of you may of seen this weekend I have been posting my Filofax dilemma on Twitter @imysworld about how I am wondering if I should up-size from Pocket to Personal...

I was thinking of starting a fresh as I am now a year older....22.....very old I know!  I feel like I need to approach things in a different way to keep track of things!

I was wondering should I up-size to my Personal Black Amazona or stick with my Pocket Malden Zipped Compact (which I do actually love).

Untitled

There they are together...

Here is what I did in my pocket to make me want to use her more?

Untitled

Untitled

I tried to cheer it up and make it more attractive to use but I just cant decide??

Shall I start a fresh or continue with what has worked so far?
