ALL STARS GUEST POST - DELIGTED - Her Pen Collectipon

Here is a guest post as part of the Philofaxy All Stars Tour from Femke from Delighted, I recently posted a What's in my bag post for the tour on her blog! 

I remember I used to use those Uni Ball Fusion pens at school, and the ink looked clear but it was really pigmented and they were so cute, those and my Parker pen were by far my favorite school pens, I just searched on Cult Pens but they no longer sell them! Thank you for reminding me of them!

My Pen Collection.

I’m addicted to pens! As a stationary lover, pens are part of my collection too and here are some of my favorite pens :)

This is how I store the pens on my desk.

First up: My lamy. After hearing the Filofax crowd rave about this pen, I decided to try it myself. I like it, but I don’t love it.


These are my absolute favorite pens: Pilot Frictions. I use them in my planner only. I adore them.

I’m a Pilot-aholic. I love their pens and these are gorgeous too. The two on the right are so cute, the writing is light and the two on the left are used only in my journal.

These are just regular pens, just the printing on them is so cute.

The only Sharpie I own, a real Marc Jacobs one. Of course.

ALL STARS GUEST POST - GIRL IN MATHS - What's in her Make up Bag?

Today we have a lovely guest post from Pauline from Girl in Maths, it is a post about what is in her make up bag, I have done the same blog post for my make up bag on her blog as well! This is part of the Philofaxy All Stars Tour!!!!  I hope you enjoy it (I am very jealous of her Chanel lipstick, I have always wanted to try some!)

First of all, please know that I am no pro at make up. I only quite recently started getting into it, since no one even notices how you look when you work at a university with almost only men as colleagues. Don’t take me wrong, I like my colleagues, but sneakers, old jeans and race t-shirts are the usual dress code and skirts and dresses are rare. So my bag may seem a bit bare, but I think I have assembled a set of products that I like and work for me.

Let me show you my bag:

It is from the brand Oilily , that makes mostly very colourful children’s clothes. I like this bag because of the fun colours. It is on the large side, and can even expand more with a zipper around three sides so I have room to grow into it! Now for the contents.

First my face products. I don’t use any liquid foundation, but I always start with some good moisturiser with a hint of foundation or colour in it. My current favourite is the bb cream from Estee Lauder.

They are:

Mac mineralize skinfinish natural, colour light medium

Guerlain meteorites poudre de perles colour mythic parfait

Chanel joues contraste colour nr 55 in love

Yves saint Laurent touche éclat colour nr 2

I use one of the two powders, depending on how my skin looks that day. The concealer I use because I have dark circles under my eyes, and they are even more enhanced by my strong glasses that enlarge anything behind them.

Then what I use for my eyes. I have only lighter colours, because I am quite pale-skinned and light-haired, and because any dark colours look weird whith my glasses.

I use the brown mascara during normal days, and the black one for parties and dinners out and such. Both work great. There is still more room in the mac palette; it’s a system where you buy a box and small magnetic holders with the colours in them. You can choose from their large range, and make your own combinations. I really like this sysem.

Finally my lip products:

On most days I pick one of these, and then carry it around with me for the day. The rest of the stuff stays at home. I have a second, smaller bag that goes with me:

This holds my lip choice for he day, along with some other essentials like a hair elastic and glasses cleaning cloth. I got this from accessorize a few years ago, and it’s actually meant to be a coin purse.

A Literal Filofax Affair - All Stars Tour - PaperLoveStory

Once again I am part of Philofaxy All Stars, and I know I will have had a few posts before this one, but this is the first I have received and I am scheduling it to appear on the correct date (I HOPE) Anyway... 

I have the lovely ANGELA from PaperLoveStory, I feel privaliged to have her on my blog as I love her posts :) They are all so cute and ADORABLE, you should check out her blog, it is a must see!!! Put it on your bucket list, but make sure it is crossed off instantly!!! Enjoy

As some of you may have already read, my previous guest post detailing my brief affair with a Moleskine day-per-page diary. This post is a sequel to that love story.

Angela finally felt settled down with Rosie and not itching to move to another organiser or planner. Or so she thought. Along came Alice Temperley who created an organiser designed to tempt even the most settled down of individuals. Fittingly, it was called The Affair and that was exactly what Angela ended up having.

Although disagreeing with all forms of adultery and cheating, Angela found herself seduced by the lace-on-leather design and the pink satin lining of the interior.

“No,” Angela said quietly to herself, “I must not let something so aesthetically pleasing affect me like this. After all, it is the personality that is so endeering, not some lace and satin!”

This resistance didn’t last long, however, and she soon held an Affair in her hands. Rosie looked on dejectedly as Angela couldn’t take her eyes off the Affair; and when Rosie’s inserts were cruelly taken from her and transferred to the new love in Angela’s life, Rosie let out a “humph” and wandered off into the sunset, in search of a new owner who would be more faithful.

This Affair didn’t last long - not dissimilar to real-life affairs. The lust was there, but things started to go wrong and the relationship was going downhill fast. As the rings started to open up and not close properly, Angela was fast losing patience. Rosie never had these problems, in fact, Rosie was almost perfect in every way; but there was no time to mourn over her now. The Affair had to be sorted as soon as possible and before the problems could escalate and turn into something bigger.

Alas, it was not meant to be as her second Affair also had the same ring problems and worse, too! Citing irreconcilable differences, back it went to Filofax and Angela was left to fend for herself. Having cheated on Rosie twice, she was in no mood to listen to Angela’s pleas for forgiveness and cliched phrases such as ‘it won’t happen again’, ‘my brain farted’, etc. And so the search began for Angela’s Filofax ‘one’.

Having lusted after the plum Osterley for months prior to all this, Angela plum-ped for it and hasn’t looked back since. Rosie did not like the fact that Angela had gone through organisers like knickers, but did not turn down the suggestion to ‘just be friends’ and as a result of this, Rosie is now her ‘me binder’.

With her love for the Osterley growing each day, no other Affair is on the horizon. That is to say, until Alice Temperley reveals her second selection of binders in her collaboration with Filofax, Angela cannot see any other binder as her other, organisational, half.

ALL STARS GUEST POST - Filofax Pro & Con's from Thoughts & Exploration

I'm very happy to be a guest writer, as part of the Philofaxy All Stars Tour, on Imy's wonderful blog! Thank you, Imy! I've been following Imy's blog for quite a while now and love to read her posts and watch her YouTube videos. So I'm honored to be featured here!

Imy asked me to write about my Filofax collection and discuss why I purchased each one, the pros and cons of each, and if I had any buyer's remorse. After avoiding the counting exercise for months and months, I finally did an official count of how many FFs I actually have: 12. They are:

• Classic in Personal and A5
• Malden in Personal
• Finsbury in Personal
• Aston in A5
• Kendal in Personal and Pocket
• Amazona in Personal
• Holborn in Personal
• Deco in Personal (x2)
• Ostrich in Personal

As you can see, my favorite size is the Personal (9 out of 12). The two A5s are used for work, although I'm going to start using one of them as my home Filo. In this post I only show a picture of the front of each. Pictures of the insides can be found all over the internet. I didn't want this post to get too picture heavy.

The Classics. These were my first two Filofaxes. Those were the days…I was just learning about Filofax and decided to give them a try. I had no obsession for FFs in particular, although I've always had a love for planners. Little did I know that with these first two, I was sowing the seeds for a Filofax obsession. Ah well, those were the days. I bought the black Personal with the intent to use it as my personal organizer that I'd carry around in my purse. I did just that for a couple of months and had/have no regrets about this purchase. The black A5 was a gift from my wonderful husband. He bought it for me days before his infantry unit was deployed to Iraq. I wanted an A5 for work and the Classic was a gift that let me think of him all day long while I was at work. I have a very strong sentimental attachment to this A5 Classic and will NEVER get rid of it. It is going to become my home fax.

Personal

Pros - beautiful Italian leather, nice feel to the leather, a long zippered pocket, nice ring size, classic/streamlined professional look, doesn't scratch easily, structured

Cons - doesn't lay flat, simple layout (6 CC pockets, 3 larger pockets), small pen loop

A5

Pros - same beautiful Italian leather, looks professional, 6 cc slots and two slightly larger slots and 3 long pockets (incl. a zippered pocket), slot for a writing pad, 2 pen loops, doesn't scratch easily, nice ring size, lays almost completely flat, structured, was a sentimental gift from my husband before he left for Iraq

Cons - small/tight pen loops

The Malden. I purchased a crimson Personal and a grey Pocket because there was so much chatter on Philofaxy about the Maldens. I simply had to try them out. I had no special purpose for the Personal one…it would just become another personal in-purse Filo that I could switch to. I have recently sold the Pocket that was originally purchased to be my wallet. No regrets with the crimson Personal but the grey Pocket just didn't completely work for me. I found that I never really used it as a planner. At one point I took out the planning pages and just had lined paper in it to jot notes down but the rings were so large (for a pocket being used as a wallet, in my opinion) I ended up not doing that either.

Pocket (recently sold)

Pros - nice color grey, lovely little brushed metal popper with "Filofax" written on it, nice small zippered pocket for change, long & large outside back pocket for paper currency

Cons - 1 small pen loop, not enough pockets for CCs and receipts and for odd bits of papers & notes I tend to collect during the day, the ring size just doesn't seem to work for me and I end up not using the ring feature at all

Personal

Pros - beautiful color and leather, nice brushed metal popper, all of the same pros as the pocket (minus the long outside back pocket), nice amount of pockets (4 dedicated CC slots, 3 long pockets, zippered pocket, 1 slot pocket for a note pad), nice ring size, lays flat

Cons - only 1 pen loop that is not elasticized

The Finsbury. I bought this aqua Personal-sized one simply because I was reading that the color was discontinued and because I'd read on Philofaxy that quite a few people have Finsburys. Why not give it a try? I have never used this one. I've had it for months! And once I decided to give it a try, I noticed that when turning pages the bottom ring snags the paper a little bit. I know this is fixable but I haven't done anything to fix it. The rings don't look bad but there is a very slight misalignment with a couple of the rings. And really, I just couldn't bring myself to move into it because I like all of my other ones better. So it is brand new and I am more than happy to sell it to someone who will appreciate and use it. {hint hint :-) Let me know if you are interested. I'm happy to send pics to whomever is interested}.

Pros - gorgeous color, nice texture, has a zippered pocket

Cons - stiff leather, doesn't lay flat, simple layout (6 CC slots and 2 larger pockets), slight misalignment on some of the rings

The Aston. This black A5 binder is wonderful. I bought it from Adspot specifically for the purpose of switching it off and on with the A5 Classic as my work binder. No regrets at all!

Pros - pretty yet simple outside design, nice soft leather, looks professional, great ring size, plenty of pockets for my work use (3 large pockets - incl one zipped, slot for a notepad, 3 dedicated CC slots, 3 other slots that can be used for biz cards, etc), structured yet still malleable, elasticized pen loop

Cons - only one pen loop

The Kendals. I bought these because I saw a YouTube video by Josh LaPorte and instantly fell in love. Plus, I believe that these are discontinued so I had to snatch up not only a brown Pocket but also a brown Personal. I'm embarrassed to say that I've never, ever used either of these. Still, I will one day…and yes, I'll give the Pocket one a try just because it is so beautiful.

Pocket

Pros - beautiful leather, zippered pocket for coins, outside back pocket for receipts and/or cash, elasticized pen loop, small ring size (good for me since I just can't seem to make use of the rings in the pockets when used as a wallet)

Cons - only one pen loop, only 3 CC slots, overall not enough pockets/slots to be ideal, doesn't lay flat

Personal

Pros - oh so beautiful leather, 2 elasticized pen loops, nice outside pocket on the back

Cons - same as the Pocket's cons

The Amazona. I love this Personal black binder! This is one that I'll never sell or give away. I bought this one to try out as my personal in-purse organizer and really love it. I had a really hard time moving out of this one because of all of the pros. No regrets here!!! Even with the cons…I still love this binder. This was the longest used one before I purchased and moved into my current one, the Ostrich.

Pros - gorgeous croc embossed leather, has a nice patent leather sheen to it, looks sophisticated, feels great to hold, two pen loops, nice ring size, pretty pretty pretty, zippered pocket, pretty pretty pretty

Cons - pen loops not elasticized, overall could use more pockets (one zippered and one "pocket flap" and only five CC slots)

The Holborn. Another one of my favorites. I purchased this black Personal binder after hearing about all of the pockets. I'm a sucker for pockets and slots. This planner doesn't disappoint! No regrets with this purchase. I was using this one right before I bought my Ostrich binder and was really enjoying the Holborn.

Pros - pockets pockets pockets, really lovely soft leather, easy to make lay flat, zippered pocket, elasticized pen loop, nice ring size, nice looking binder

Cons - none!

The Decos. I first bought the ruby Personal Deco to, again, have another option for switching my personal organizer…you don't wear the same pair of shoes with every outfit, right?? And I love all things deco so it was a given that I'd eventually buy this. After buying the ruby I decided to buy the ivory one when someone on Adspot decided to sell hers. No regrets with either purchase.

Pros - really distinct leather design…pretty, fabulous closure mechanism - unlike any other Filo, nice contrasting of materials used on the inside, zippered pocket, elasticized pen loop, "accordion" pocket in the back, classic, lays flat

Cons - only one pen loop, would like a couple of more pockets…I'm a pocket gal

The Ostrich. This is my current Filofax and I'm not planning on moving out of this beauty any time soon. I adore this one because it's so luxurious and different and classic. It is unique and a pleasure to use every day. I've done a review of my Personal Ostrich in buttercup here and I did a post of my set-up on my blog, Thoughts & Exploration. Regrets? HECK NO! Since purchasing the ostrich I have had no desire to purchase another Filofax.

Pros - amazing ostrich full-quill leather, lovely color, unique, luxurious, plenty of pockets - very similar to the Holborn, zippered pocket, fabulous texture…it's great to hold and touch, very soft, lays flat

Cons - only one non-elasticized pen loop

All-in-all, I'm really happy with all of the binders in my collection. I think that some time in the very distant future I may move out of my ostrich to try out the Kendal since the Kendals are the only ones that I want to keep that have never been used. I can certainly see myself parting with the aqua Finsbury and maybe even the personal Classic (if anyone is interested!) but the others will stay under my care for a bit longer.

What's in my Car - All Stars Guest Post - Alistair from All Things Gay

What’s in my Car

Hi everyone! Its Alistair here from allthingsgay123.blogspot.co.uk. Let me first of all say what a pleasure it is to be writing on Imy’s blog as part of the philofaxy all stars tour! This post it going to be about what’s in my car. I am the proud owner of a silver Renault Clio as seen above and here’s what's inside.

Here are my keys to get into my car. They are fairly minimalist to say the least! But I think they look quite cool. Ones the car key the other is for my house and the charm is a skull featured in my haul post a while ago.

The first thing everyone notices when they get in my car is the floor mats!

Hanging from my mirror I've got a jelly belly air freshener and another cheapy air freshener.

In a little slot next to my clock I keep some STRAWBERRY TIC TACS! They are AMAZING.

In the little cubby hole down here I keep a Carex hand sanitizer, a bag full of change for parking and a tub from extra chewing gum with Werthers originals in.

Above this on my air vents I have a little stand for my blackberry.

In a concealed pocket near my gear stick I keep an I trip and its remote. This plugs into my iPod and make the songs play on the radio.

In the back pockets of the two front seats I keep a first aid kit (god forbid id need to use it!!) and a car manual.

The boot of my car and the passenger side cupboard contain really boring car stuff so I didn’t bother with a picture as this post is long enough already! But I have a tyre pump, more air fresheners, a Tesco bag and wheel locks.

Imy’s Travelling Goals - All Stars Guest Post - Ray Blake

I am lucky enough to today have Ray Blake from My Life all in One Place, you know that guy who creates all the AMAZING Philofaxy inserts with Steve and has all these GENIUS ideas of how to hack Filofaxes and add extra things that are just magical and helpful, well I have been lucky enough to have him posting on my blog!!! All part of the Philofaxy All Stars. Enjoy...

Having follewed Imy’s recent posts, I know how hard she has worked to thin down her setup so she can work with a Compact Filofax, so when she asked me to write a guest post for her – and specifically to come up with an invention – I knew I couldn’t make something that would take up much ring space. Preferably, it should be something that replaced something she already had.

The obvious choice is the Today marker. Whilst it’s fabulously useful for gaining quick access to the right page in your diary, it’s not doing anything else for you. Given that it’s something you’re going to look at several times every day, I thought there was scope to make it more useful.

So I asked Imy to tell me what her current goals were and I designed her a new Today marker that means she gets reminded of her goals all the time. I called it Imy’s Travelling Goals for three reasons:

1. Because travel is one of Imy’s passions

2. Because travelling connotes movement and action and this marker prompts that

3. Because the goals travel through her Filofax, week by week, and stay current

Oh, and it’s pink. I didn’t feel the need to ask her about that.

Anyway, here is the finished item:

You can download the MS Publisher template and make your own here. Instructions are included. Print on A4 paper, or if using Letter size paper, set printing so that it doesn’t scale to paper size.

What's in My Bag - All Stars Post by Icclewu - Tracey

Hello All

So another What's in my bag post today, but from a new Filofax friend, Tracey, She sent me the post it notes in the post yesterday!! What a lovely lady!!! And now its her turn to do a guest post for me YAY!!! I really am loving this seriese of What's in my bag posts!!

Hi everyone. I would like to start by thanking Imy for letting me guest blog as part of the Philofaxy All stars team. I am a newbie blogger and can be found here at Rapunzel's World so be gentle with me J.

I have loved Imy’s other guest blogs for “What’s in my bag” so thought I would give it a try. So here we go................................What’s in my bag.

The bag I am using at the moment is made by Animal. I bought it last month from the animal shop at York shopping outlet.

Here is a photo of it.

It is all black, with a zip pocket inside, and a pocket under the flap at the front. I use this bag for everyday use, and all sorts of things get thrown in there, especially when I usually have a three year old in tow.

So here is a photo of the inside.

Inside the main pocket of the bag we have the following:

My personal Malden in vintage pink, a pack of antibacterial wipes (you never know when they might come in handy) a blue pen from Imy, my bic 4 colour fashion pen, 2 Lypsyls, a packet of post-it notes given to me by a friend, and the round black thing is my earphones as seen below.

They are fab. I use these as they have the in-line control thing for volume, skip track etc, and they work well with my iphone.

Also in the main pocket are the following;

My house keys, a pink bobble, a lolly??, a conker???? And a stylus for Nintendo ds?????? There is also a receipt for a book bag for my daughter’s nursery school.

Also inside there is my lovely Filofax Special Edition purse.

I love this purse!!

Also, the little pink thing is my Playboy mini nail gadget thing

This gets used more for other things, than actually nails.

Then we come to the inside zip pocket

This is where I keep my make up.

Nothing out of the ordinary there. Pressed powder, lip gloss, lip stain, eye liner, tweezers and a pink bobble.

Then finally we come to the outside pocket under the flap.

Inside here we have the following;

A pen from the Stratosphere hotel in Las Vegas, 4 mini papermate pens (I love these pens) post-it notes, (I love these too) 2 lollies?? An envelope which has some of those Morrisons Disney cards in that were for a friend, and a hole punch for my filofax.

So there we have it. an insight into what is in my bag. I hope you have enjoyed having a little nosey :-)
