Personal Amazona V Compact Regency

I am having a small dilemma, I have a bit too much stuff for the Regency, and would love to have more diary and see further into the future, but with the compact I am unable to do this! I can just see to November! Which makes me sad! I would love to see further forward and see backwards as well!

I like to be able to check on things and write things in full I cannot just be restricted to future planning with a month to view!

Here are some comparative photos of the two, which do you think I should use?

The main issue is the fact the 23mm rings get in the way when writing and I would have to have an awful lot in there to stop this being an issue, but the 15mm rings of the compact are too small.... hmmm

What would you do?

I have done a guest post on Personal V Compact over on Paperlovestory's blog, so go check that out as well!! (on 10 September)

UPDATE:

I tried Personal out last night, and I found it to be too big, and I missed Compact, I stayed in a Personal for all of 5 minutes, so this blog post was kind of pointless, but it gave you a small glimpse in to a comparison between them!  Check out Paperlovestory's blog on 10 September to see a Full comparison!

  1. It sounds like the decision has been made for you. The ability to be able to plan much further into the future and to see past events seems to outweigh the size issue. Both the filofaxes look great so I'd go with the personal. I'm having similar issues too deciding between an A5, pocket and personal for day to day use. The A5 is just to big to carry and so its between the personal and the pocket. I've also started to use a mini Malden as a wallet, its an awesome binder.

  2. I've been in a compact Holborn for a few months now and adore it. I use a MO1P to keep track of future appointents/events and then I have one month of DPP, which I rotate at the end of each month and accordingly update that diary with the info that's been written in the MO1P section...although next year I'll use a MO2P for the extra space.

  4. Hi Imy,

I totally get your frustration. My first Filo was an Amazona personal in red. I found it too fat and heavy to carry around in my handbag all the time. I switched to A5 for daily and personal use, however stay@home binder, because of its size and weight. Started a 3 filo daily system; business A5 (sits at my desk at work), personal a5 (stay at home) and pocket (carry around everywhere). The pocket is an extension of my A5. Just to make appointments and jot down notes and such. However, didn't like the pocket size much and ended up not using it well.

Recently I replaced the pocket in my system for a compact Chameleon, but waiting for the gorgeous compact regency to arrive next week!
my compact is my detailed day schedule, such as to do's/planning (daily). I use day on 2pages, and carry 2 weeks around. For a month view I use french diary week on 2pages with notes (ma/sat on 1 pages) sonday and notes on the other page.

To view back/forward I write down certain appointments/events in my month on 2 pages (vertical and tabbed) layout. There enough space to view till jan 2013!

Maybe this helps to keep you in the compact! It's so true that it's lovely to carry around and I'm sure you will miss it so much, once you moved out of your compact!

    Good luck!

  5. heh heh. just move around. i do that a lot. i'm also currently thinking about moving back into the amazona. but i love the compact too much. i sooooo wish they made a 19mm one. the regency has those notebook friendly outer pockets though. if you have some specific notes you carry around all the time (like lists of movies you need to see, books, restaurants, etc) too or contacts, you could put those in a separate notebook insert or even just a notes in section could be a separate thing and have only diary in the rings. you can make it work, you really just need to see what you really really need and what you don't. looking forward to seeing what you end up doing

    1. I like the way you think, SNARLing! Compact + 19-mm rings = win!

  6. I was using the Compact Finsbury and I just recently switched to the Personal Holborn, I have been using it for two weeks now, and I have no regrets. Perhaps it is not necessarily the size of the binder that you are 'in love' with but maybe the Regency itself. Do they make a personal size one?
